WARNING!
This is the third book in a series, and reading this review without
having read book one and two might spoil some of your fun.
The story:
Finally through a Sector-riding much harder than expected, Talia is
now a full Herald, who have a seat in the Council, and a full vote.
And she is back in the nick of time, for the Council is trying to get Elspeth married off to Ancar of Hardorn.
Now, the Queen is planning a state visit to Hardorn, and Talia and Kris will be her envoys, and go before her to prepare her arrival. Talia is happy enough, for she has problems with Dirk. Neither of them will admit the existance of a life-bond, and Dirk is dangerously jealous of Kris.
As if that was not enough, not everything is as it seems in Hardorn, and Talia and Kris will discover that they have stuck their heads into a nest of angry wasps.
Thoughts about the book:
A lot of things are turned upside down in this book. Old alliances
disappear, and Valdemar is suddenly more alone than it was before.
This story is important to the happenings to come, and explains relationships that will be very important in the following books. This is perhaps the politically most interesting of the Valdemar stories.
