The Dark Caller

It was then that she felt as if the ground had suddenly collapsed beneath her. For the name at the end of the letter was her mother's.

Warning!
This is the second book in a series, and reading this review without having read book one might spoil some of your fun.

The story:
Shar has always been told that both her parents died when she was a small child. She has never questioned this, until she received a letter from her mother.

Since the High Initiate and the other members of the Circle are suspicious, and probably will believe it is a trick, Shar decides to investigate the case on her own.

She leaves the Castle at Star Penisula in search of her mother, and suddenly she finds herself caught in another terrible battle against entities not quite human, a battle that will lead to an almost unheard-of agreement between old enemies.

Thoughts about the book:
This one is cute, though it still bears the clear signs of a children's book. But for those who like Tarod, it is an entertaining and at times surprising story.
