The story:
On every world of Man, people are dying from a plague that there is no
cure for. On every planet, save Grass.
Grass is an isolated world, where few people go, and that the rest of the worlds know little about. But there is the possibility that the cure for the plague can be found here. And so, Marjorie Westriding Yrarier comes with her husband Roderigo Yrarier, and their two children Anthony and Stella, to Grass, to search for it.
She and her family enter a strange world, where the nobles ride in the Hunt in spring and autumn; hunting foxes. But neither the horses, the hounds nor the foxes are anything like those of earth.
Little by little, a terrible world is revealed, where the horses, called Hippae, and the hounds play a vital role, in a way Marjorie had not expected.
Thoughts about the book:
This is a story about religion, and about good and evil. It is
captivating, and brings up questions mainly connected to religion.
It also is a story about how people tend to ignore what they don't like, how people don't see the parts of the world they don't want to see.
