Guenevere - The Queen of the Summer Country

Neither of them saw the horse's evil eye fix her in its glare. With a loud scream the great best reared up, its front legs pawing at the dying sun. Then like heaven falling, it plungedd down to strike the Queen and crush her into a broken, bloodstained heap beneath its feet.

The story:
Guenevere is the daughter of King Leogrance and the warrior Queen Maire Macha, who sits on the Throne of the Summer Country. When her mother dies, she becomes the Queen. But she soon realises that she faces grave dangers. For the Christians are threatening the Old Ways, and among them, the women are not respected as they are in her world.

Thoughts about the book:
In this story, Guenevere is the strong woman, the one who could have ridden to war with her men, and fought by their side.

But another world is taking over, one with little or no room for strong women.

Fascinating, but I couldn't get myself to truly like it. I guess it is because the descriptions of the characters seem wrong. My favourite character in these stories is Morgaine. The way she is described here, feels wrong.
