The figure beckoned again, and it was as if invisible strings
pulled at Cyllan's limbs. She fought the compulsion with all her
strength, but her left foot slid forward, propelling her...
WARNING!
This is the second book in a series, and reading this review without
having read book one might spoil some of your fun.
The story:
Noone has heard a word from the Castle at Star Penisula for a long
time. Then a Warp throws Cyllan, the drover girl, and the noble
Drachea into the sea outside the Castle.
Tarod, whom Cyllan has met twice before, roams the corridors of the Castle, alone. After being betrayed by his betrothed, he was about to be executed when he finally reached for his own true powers, and stopped time itself in the Castle.
But even he is unable to undo what he did, unless he can find his Soulstone. The stone that was taken from him, and from which he is barred by his own magic. And now is the hope that the two newcomers can find what he cannot.
Thoughts about the book:
I really like both Tarod and Cyllan. They are both loyal to their
beliefs, and strong. For those who have read the Star Shadow Trilogy,
Tarod will be a familiar character, who has not changed much since
Chaos ruled.
Drachea is a bit shallow, perhaps. A bit stereotype. But all
together, an enjoyable book.
