Trojka

One of the men -- the eldest and burliest by the look of him, and doubtless their ringleader -- was climbing over the troika's side, smirking like a hyena. Indigo's mind snapped to a decision, and she whipped the crossbow free and around in one movement, setting the bolt she always kept ready in its groove and priming the weapon with a sharp, cold click.

WARNING!
This is the fifth book in a series, and reading this review without having read the previous books might spoil some of your fun.

The story:
After defeating the demon of Despair, Indigo spends many years with her friends. But after a long rest, it is time to move on.

To the cold of the North, Indigo has traced her fourth demon. In the middle of a blizzard, she sees a giant tiger, running away with a human companion.

And suddenly, she finds herself face to face with Fenran. Or rather, a relative of his. For her journey has taken her to the land from which Fenran came, and meeting his relatives is a painful experience.

With one that brings the memories of her beloved painfully close, she must find and destroy the next demon before it destroys her lover's family.

Thoughts about the book:
Another of man's own demons awaits. This time, the demon is one of the more destructive ones.

Indigo must confront both her memories and her own feelings, and at the same time confront the demon. But her problem is that the demon is a part of her; as with the previous demon, this one is also in every human.

Cooper puts her finger on some of the dark sides of the human soul, and this demon most people should recognize. The scary thing is that it can be found almost within every heart, and it is one of the most difficult demons to fight.
