The White Gryphon

WARNING!
This is the second book in a series, and reading this review without having read book one and two might spoil some of your fun.

The story:
The fugitives who came through the Gate with Skandranon and Amberdrake have settled, and started rebuilding their lives. The city they build is called the White Gryphon, in honour to Skan, who, after spending too much time between Gates, has turned pure alabaster.

When a ship arrives, Skan and Amberdrake, together with Zhaneel and Winterhart, set out as envoys to the Haleigh realms. They soon discover that not everyone is happy to see them there.

Not only do they meet cultural differences and prejudices, but there is someone there who carries a grudge, and who is perfectly willing to do anything to get his revenge.

Thoughts about the book:
I consider this book a rather straight-forward fantasy story, with a dash of murder mystery added. Some of the solutions remind me more of the books of Diane Tregarde than Valdemarian stories.

It is not the best she has written, nor has the story, so far, had any impact on the stories about Valdemar.
